The selected print advertisement by Volkswagen carries the tagline: Precision Parking, talking about how Volkswagen cars nowadays have precision parking assist. In the advertisement, its trying to prove that the park assist offered by Volkswagen is very accurate.
Through the use of humour and analogy, this advertisement have effectively achieved its purpose of advertising its new precision parking feature. In this advertisement, it shows a porcupine surrounded by goldfish in plastic bags. By using these animals, it demonstrates a lighthearted and humorous nature that helps Volkswagen to appeal to its audience of any age. (Govil, P.)
As for the analogy used in this advertisement, Volkswagen compared the porcupine as the viewer's car and the bags of goldfish to the surrounding cars, trying to demonstrate that parallel parking a car can be as challenging as trying to fit a porcupine between delicate bags of goldfishes.
Conclusion:
In my opinion, this advertisement connects through the AIDA concept as it grabs the viewer's attention and interest by relating the advertisement to our everyday lifestyle. Besides that, the advertisement makes me desire a Volkswagen car and would make me want to take the action to get it if I can afford them as with this park assist feature provided, it would make my parking life so much easier!
